From Tension to Metamorphosis
 
Symposium in the context of the
Young International Performers' Festival
 
The symposium will be dedicated to two subject areas:

Social exclusion/ social marginalisation
The term "Play Mas" as exemplified by the carnival in Trinidad
 
Exclusion/ Marginalisation
The lectures given by the various artistic directors of the guest groups and their young representatives, all of whom confront the ruling social attributes of their respective countries and the resulting exclusion, marginalisation and categorisation with the help of diverse aesthetic methods, will be the starting point of the discussions.
 
The term "Play Mas" as exemplified
by the carnival in Trinidad
Artists and researchers in Trinidad (Patricia T. Alleyne-Dettmers, Linguistic Anthropologist; World-Renowned Theatrical Designer, Peter Minshall, Director of Callaloo Company, Tony Hall, Theatrical Director, Lord Street Theatre Company, Nestor Sullivan, Director, Pamberi Steelband, Earl Lovelace, Commonwealth Prize Winner for Literature, will give a lecture on "Play Mas " in context with identity, repression and new creation through the carnival.
